About Alexis America

Hi, I’m Alexis. I write about the parts of personal finance American life actually runs on — gig income, credit, debt, grants, the apps people are actually using to make rent.

I’ve been writing here since 2009. I started as a community-college student trying to figure out whether the for-profit "education" companies pitching me were a trap (mostly: yes). I kept writing through DoorDash-as-a-real-job, the 2020 stimulus, the crypto cycle, the great-resignation white-collar layoffs, and the slow normalization of the "side income is now the main income" American household. I’m not a financial advisor. I don’t sell a course. I don’t pitch a coaching call. I write about the apps, side hustles, credit cards, grants, and government programs I’ve personally used or that my readers have stress-tested — including the months when nothing worked and I had to rebuild from a $400 paycheck. If you’re looking for "ways to make money online" listicles with affiliate links to mid courses, this isn’t that. If you want one person’s honest accounting of how a working-class American household actually makes the math work in 2026 — that’s most of what’s here.

We've been serving clients since 2009, building a reputation on reliability, clear communication, and results that compound over time.
